How noticeable is the shake? I feel something like a slight shake when backing up with brake partially depressed. I also feel it a bit when car is moving forward in D without accelerator depressed. Its not a big shake, but it is noticeable. I took to dealer and but they claimed it was normal.

omszz,

Yes, it is quite siimilar to what you described. It is not very noticeable like you said. But I am not sure if it is normal. I don't see this on my others cars.

It's 31k.
What is SIB? or # ow? Sorry, I am still a newbie here.
Thank you, all.
SIB is a service bulletin, # ow should have been # now, meaning I don't remember the number of that SIB now :-)

Thank you, Mine is 2005 545i with Sports.
Basically, at very low speed with transmission knob in D, when I step on brake slowly the car starts to vibrate or shake a little bit before it completely stops.

That's funny. I have the exact same car with the same symptom. I also took it to the dealer. I spoke with the shop foreman who has been with BMW for years and he is really knowledgeable. We went on a test drive together and he said that the vibration is normal. It is actually the electronic braking system that's adjusting to the slower speed. I also used to get this vibration when I was stopped at a traffic light and then let go of the brake to creep forward. It would jump and vibrate ever so slightly. Again, the dealer said this is just a characteristic of the computerized automatic braking.

I wasn't sold on his comment and was thinking of sharing with everyone on this forum... At least I'm not the only one here with this issue.

Comments guys?
