Sorry to hear about your car. My E39 got keyed in my office building's parking garage, and the indy shop that I get it serviced at recommended a place called International Sport Motors. My Ride: 545 modded the F out
Who is your insurance company? They really agreed to pay EMC's asking amount?? I've been there before and they do in fact do superb work as they work on very high end vehicles. They take the paint all the way down to the metal/ steel and adhere to almost all the factory standards of the each car company to ensure the highest quality of product repair and that is why BMW of Fremont takes their used/ trade in vehicles to them. They pretty much restore the paint back to showroom quality. With that said I'm not surprised they would charge you that match if you were having your complete vehicle painted. I went to San Jose and got my whole car painted for 2500 to include all my stock bumpers and skirts.

I had work done on my front bumper at EMC before on an E36 M3. The quality of the work was very good but they did make one mistake which I was disappointed about (very disappointed). They used a black primer (on my Titanium Silver M3) instead of what they were supposed to use which was a gray. This resulted in black spots as I got small chips from driving. The other panels had chips that were barely visible due to the lighter primer underneath. I only noticed after a year.

Really sucks getting keyed.. I suggest you to claim insurance, that's what you pay insurance for.

Yea I think I found a shop that will do a great job for a decent price. Emc's actually wasn't showroom quality last time. I could see the blending on the in side edges of everything. It was ok. I'm not really worried about it anymore. It would be my third major insurance claim in 1 year... I'll just pay out of pocket.
