My car is a 12/2004 UK Spec 525d M-Sport.

The car did not have autofold mirrors as an option. I understand from other threads that you need to have the correct Module fitted to the car.

When I removed my standard manual fold mirrors it had just the one plug going to the module.

When I replaced them with M5 mirrors (btw - this has all the options - including autofold), I noticed that the 2 of the 3 plugs plugged into the module. (The only one that did not plug in was black and purple - which I know is elecrochrome function).

This is why I am slightly intrigued. I appreciate that for autofold to work you need the right module. But given that 2 of the plugs of my M5 mirrors did plug into my car module, does that perhaps mean that my car has the correct module already fitted ??

Perhaps someone could direct me to the correct module part on Realoem.com, for autofold.

I do not have the folding switch on my window console, but if I could somehow get my dealer to program the car to autofold the mirrors from the Remote key fob lock, then that would be really cool.

Thanks.

Thanks.......are you based in the UK ?
So even without the internal console folding switch, I can still fold them from my lock/unlock button on key ?

Good question, cuz i'm also interested in doing the same thing. I suspect we have the same wire loom. So how many wires we have currently? 1 for electric adjustmen, another for heat?, and another for electrochrome?!, and another for fold in function?

I have 6 wires going to the black plug. I understand, from reading another post, that the 6th wire powers the autofold.

Phoned a dealer about them programming my car to do this........they reckon it's not possible, because my car did not originally come with autofold mirrors; could it be that they are just being clueless ???

Very interested in hearing from anyone who has had autofold programmed to their car so that it works from the key fob lock/unlock button only. In other words you do not have the folding switch on your door console.

What did you ask the dealer in order fro them to program it for you ?

It looks like the mirror with the fold-in function requires an additional module, something like SA-430.
Goto RealOEM, option 51 vehicle trim, 10 doors/outside mirrors

All door modules are the same, including M5. Your dealer needs to add the autofold option before it can program it.

Many thanks. How does one go about doing that ? Any problems or pitfalls that may arise afterwards ?.....Will my car think it's now got a V10 under the bonnet !!
