A/C and heater operation?
OK, so be patient as this is the first post and im a newbie on the forum. I recently bought a 05 525i. I love the car but im having issues figuring out the temperature settings in the car. I have two knobs, one for the driver and one for the passenger side of the car. There is also three buttons in the middle one is for AC the other is for recycling inside air and the third is AUTO. Do i have to have all three pushed ON when i regulate the temperature with the knobs? Does the AC have to be on even if im running the heater. It seems that if i don't have the AC on the windows fog up? Any suggestions?

Read your instruction manual, it's all in there.
You may have to go in to the iDrive menu and change the temp settings from hot to cold.
Auto will auto adjust the which vents the air comes out and try to get the temp correct to what each knob is set too, A/c turns on the A/c compressor, so if it is hot and you don't have the a/c on it set on auto, the fans will blow full force trying to get the temp down.
The center knob you can manually adjust the fan speed , but it takes it the system out of Auto.

simplest thing: push all green lights ON and adjust temp/fan with the dials. I find that I have to adjust the temp settings more often in the BMW than other cars with Auto Climate controls.
One further thing is the Intensity of the Automatic Programs in iDrive. I find that Medium works for me, but Soft definitely was not responsive enough. Never even tried the Max (Intense?) setting.
I never fool with the Vent adjustments in iDrive either.
