Hi,
Can anybody help with what the engine block plug circled in red is for? The position of the plug (cyl 2) justifies to be a coolant plug. However, several places on the net saying the N52 does not have a coolant plug and most BMW engines have the coolant block plug on the exhaust side and not the intake.
Thanks for your input guys.

I would also like to know. My bentley manual doesn't mention anything about N52 engine block drain. There is reference to N54 and N62 engines. And I had checked in the forum and got only the answer that there is no plug. My radiator drain plug drain took out about 7quarts (out of a total 10.8quarts of coolant?). So it was not a complete drain in my view.
The electic water pump does help bleed the system well, of any trapped air, but still no clues on N52 engine block drain plug.
