Why do you think the rear differential going out? I am asking because I am about to change the differential oil with BMW Genuine OEM Synthetic gear oil SAF-XO 07512293972 at 90,000 miles on my 2006 BMW 530i. Should I not touch what's not broken.

Thanks and best of luck with your next choice of car! Which car did you get this time? :-)

I had changed the diff oil at 80K when the pinion started leaking. These cars are quiet. We went on a trip to Indianapolis and the rear end started getting louder and louder. I took it to the shop after the trip and they said it was starting to fail. They said it may go tomorrow or it may last 6 months. I think it was just a one off quirk with my car but who knows. I have had some clunking coming from the rear so it is possible it was in self destruct mode. After all the issue with this car I decided to go cheap and bought a 2015 Mazda 6 Touring with a manual. I figured if i am going to drive a slower car it should be a manual. It is a nice car and still somewhat sporty. My next endever will be to assemble a Factory Five Racing replica as my go fast vehicle.
