It has been a fun 5 years but I had to sell at 120,000 miles. To many issues for a daily driver.
Thanks for all the posts and advice over the years.

Best of luck to you and your future car endeavors.
Looks like he had a 2008 550i looking at his posting history. Probably suffering from the numerous oil leaks, oil burning issues, possible coolant loss thats typical of this engine. If none of that has been addressed before 120K miles, it was probably was good idea to dump it...
Looking forward to the thread...
Hey guys, just bought a 550. The PO said it was in great shape, but Im suffering from numerous oil leaks, disappearing coolant, and various electrical issues.

And the main reason why these modern BMW's are not fun to keep around past 7 years is because of the "earth-friendly" natural rubber used throughout the entire car.
I had a few rubber parts fail around the 5 and 6 year mark on my 2008 550. They were easy to replace and not too much of a concern. However, this past year, lucky year number 7, has seen me in my garage at least every other month undergoing surgery. The parts "transplants" are starting to become more expensive and/or time consuming to fix, so I don't plan to keep my car too much longer either. I only have 90K miles on my odometer, so it doesn't matter how much or little you drive them, their rubber ages anyway.
If only BMW used durable rubber like the rest of the world, man, these cars would be just as reliable as the Asian brands.

what i learned from owning bmws after the warranty expires you have to get rid of the car or else anything that goes down is easily costs 200 or more i have to let mine go as well once I'm in better financial situation

I really hope this isn't the case. Our 530i with 108K miles on the M54 engine is running great and I hope to keep it for many more years without having to break the bank.
It's about to go in to have the entire cooling system replaced as per maintenance recommendations.
