any news on when the cd changer will have mp3 capabilities, it's the software not the hardware. Optical drives are optical drives, but it's the encoder/decoder in idrive that makes the difference...

Peter.. That's juuust bullshit I can confirm that I am able to play mp3s off of DVDs. I have burnt some dvds branded "DVD-R Advanced AZ0+ 16X 4.7GB", and they play perfectly in the business navigation DVD-player. Though - I haven't yet filled up an entire disc with mp3s.. but I'll gladly do that and report back how that goes. I'm guessing it's not a problem.

I have confirmed on 2 seperate E90 3 Series that cars with Business nav can play a DVD with MP3's ( DVD with MP3's burned to it just like a MP3 CD )

Anyone try it in the E60 yet ?

Yep, I tried a DVD in the front player with more then 280 MP3 files in the root directory. It's been working with my business nav since upgrade to CIP 17. I don't know why, but only the 199 first MP3 files were readable.

Working fine with a full DVD here. Albums in their respective folders though, no big folders.
