I think the tracking comes as part of a BMWAssist subscription (which is free for the first year but renewable for a fee after that.)

The service notification is automatic and free -- whenever one of the condition-based or scheduled services (CBS) shows up as due (about 30 days before the due date), the car will place a call (on it's own internal phone) to the service network and your dealer will most likely call you to schedule an appointment...
30 days eh? Bastards never noticed me to schedule appt. ....(sigh)

Check your service menu to see if your car placed a service request. Without looking at my car, I seem to remember a sort of log that shows when these calls were placed...

Car tracking is not the same as service notification, as far as I know.

If you are still under your first year of BMWAssist, why not give them a call and have them explain things to you?
That would be too easy and take the fun out of looking in the forum
Also, you guys are a lot more knowledgible than many of the people at BMW

Does anybody know at what milage the car will call the dealer for service? Can the car say you need an oil change in a few hundred miles (to get your free scheduled maintenance), or does it literally need to be all the way down to zero?
