Hi If you do a search on the subject of RF's you will see that most are not in favour of them although BMW are keen to push the safety side of them. I would think you have a good bit still to go on them at 620 miles . It comes down to how much you hate them and the cost to replace them.

I don't remember exactly, but I had, maybe, 4.5k miles. I changed to PS2's.

Most people are getting 20K-25K on their RF tires

I changed mine at 22,500 miles.

Switched to Michelin Pilot Sport PS2.... and it's like a new car.

Why so many people hate RFT's? I don't see any problem with them - they are quiet, stable on the road, and very grippy. I have stock Dunlops - what seem to be the problem with them?

I don't call them ThumpFlats for nothing. They are harsh, jarring and I suspect, the root of many of the premature structural creaking evils so often discussed on this board. I really dread returning to them in the spring.

Oh, and they are outrageously expensive ($320 ea) and very few shops are qualified to deal with them; and you must be very careful of your wheels when they are changed by incompetents.

Otherwise, they are great.

They are hard as steel (poor comfort on bad roads), they weigh a lot (>10 pounds more than non RF's) and
they are noycier than non RF's.

And then there has been a lot of tread problems with the older Dunlop RF's, and many have been changed under warranty.

My tires were changed under warranty before I bought the car (9.9K miles). So I got hte new tires when I bought the car - and so far, I love RFT's - no issues whatsoever. I don't think the ride is harsh, but then again, my daily driver is Z3.... :-)
