Drove 335 and 535, didn't like either. Looks like I'll need to buy my car when lease expires since it may be the last in line.
You're coming out of a 530, just curious what didn't you like about the 535?

bmw cant even make realiable NA engines, and now they want to use forced induction on all engines?... O god... x35i have been a flukes lol... Looks like end of bmw for mee
Just as with any new engine or component or body style, there will be some teething problems. Turbo's have always been around, but now that we are more carbon footprint sensitive they will be more of them.

This is exactly what I didn't like: no torque, some lag and then huge kick. Thanks, I prefer linear responses of NA engine rather than no power - huge power. 'Neck snapping acceleration' is a negative trait for me.

And no, BMW NA is not giving us choices. Like someone mentioned, some of us would be happy with 215hp - me, for example.
Guys are you insane, the V8 has a peakier torque curve than the N54. Lets keep this real.

Does this mean the E60 M5 will be the one and only bemmer with V10 engine? I think i'll keep it until the car die!
The M5 will be going turbo too, a modified version of the X6 TT V8.

What a stupid @ss statement. I have owned 4 BMW's and the engines have been flawless. BMW probably makes the finest engines in the world.

turbos arnt that expensive, over here the likes of garrett, and APS, turbo technics et al, are around ?500, there are/will be plenty of companys selling patented turbos, and the only other component is normally the intercooler, most turbo failures are normally down to the vaines and barings drying up, but roller baring turbos are much better, as are twin scroll.
its no biggie, a huge amount of car manufacturers use turbos now, the likes of SAAB have been using them mainstream for over 25 years.

did you want to stay with cross ply tyres also

now wheres that mr darwin.....

Yeah, this is a pretty stupid statement. granted, bmw is notorious for electronic problems, but the engineering that goes into engine/drivetrain/suspension in bmws is world class.

I owned a 5 speed 84 318i that i put through hell... i mean, what no car should ever have to experience. i beat on that car so hard i broke the engine mounts, causing the distributor to hit the firewall and break. i fixed the distributor and engine mounts, car fired back up like it was brand new. I continued treating the car as I had and it eventually died, but it was 17 years old and had 180K on the odometer when i bought it. the fact that it lasted 6 months under my abuse sold me on bmw for life... shit, its replacement, an 85 audi quattro, lasted 3 days. I was pretty abusive to my winter beaters when i was in highschool.

I think he is mainly talking about the lack of low end torque. When i had my 1.8t it felt like geo metro until the turbo kicked in.
