BMW is planing to make all engines with Turbos
#11
VW are doing this already with the 122bhp 1.4TFSi - which is actually a good little motor. What I worry about is the reliability of BMW Turbos...MB have been doing this too with the 1.8...
I think it's in an effort to bring the Co2 down further...

Face it guys and gals, turbo-charging is the future. The best of both worlds, combining power with efficiency. You get a smaller/efficient engine when when you are cruising and power of a big engine when you get on it.
Works for me .

That is not the issue that most N54 owners are sour over.
We love the power, love the low end torque, and crazy fuel mileage, V8 power ... Heck no problems at all with the motor it self.
It is the Accessory issues associated with it.

The problem w/ turbo motor is... SO EASY/CHEAP TO MAKE POWER w/ MODS = I'll be in trouble spending money again
I'm happy w/ my 545 now that I don't have to think about power mods

And why not!. BMW's had turbos in the past and in F1, their turbos were wicked. I would love to see them go down the turbo route. BMW already make brilliant NA engines, its about time they show the rest how its done for turbo ones.

we porsche fanatics had the same problem when the 911 went to water cooling. Turns out they are better motors, and the same will be said with the turbos in bmws.
Another example of blatant arrogance is the RFTs. Who asked them for it? Why don't they let us, the customer, decide if we want them or not?
If turbos are going to be the only offering, I guess this would be the end of my relationship with BMW....

. My last Audi was slower than my 530Xi on paper, but it was a 1000 times more exciting, because of the way the turbos kicked ass every time they kicked in. I guess its a question of preference, but I'm definitely not against turbo-charging.
