You are so fortunate to live here and be able to make a living here! I cannot think of anywhere in the world I would rather be. Alas,I leave tomorrow, Sunday.
Cheers

I recall this in the early 90s as I drove my E30 coupe from NY to AZ, and everywhere else I went. Good times. There was even a time I was pulled over and ticketed by a not-so-understanding highway patrolman. Ever hear of a ticket for "improper use of headlights"??
Flashing the headlight was also an indication to the on coming car/traffic that there is a cop/speed trap ahead....I guess that is why you got the ticket.

Wow....I did not know this. When I was driving in Manhattan yesterday, an X5 in the other lane flashed me. I slowed down becuase I thought there was a speed trap or cop ahead. I didn't see one so I guess he was say "Hi." If I knew I would have flashed back.

Gee, I thought this was pretty much common knowledge...

Up until I sold my Porsche Cayman S a few months back for my 5 series...The Porsche guys still kept the flash and wave tradition alive. I've received the flash from old 356's to late 70's 911's to modern day 911 Turbos.

I dont know why BMW owners dont flash anymore...maybe because the ownership personality is so diverse. Where as we are all enthusiasts on this website, the majority of BMW owners may not feel the same way.

I do miss flashing at all my Porsche bretheren though!

I think the BMW owner's stopped flashing as much because of the diversity of the owner demographics as well as the negative stereotype of a typical BMW driver.

I know one thing, if I'm driving my E30 M3 and I see another one, I guarantee you I'd flash him and he'd flash back...

Thanks! Rte. 95 was virtually traffic free. First though, I made the traditional stop at "Hole in One" donuts in Orleans. They are the best and the only ones I eat for the whole year.
One downside event was a stone cracked my windshield. A reminder that life was back to usual I guess.
But I did have the opportunity to flash "hi" to a few e60/61s!
