The only part of the arm that is going to be perished is the bushes, so check to see if the rubbers look worn, and if there is a lot of movement. If so, then they need changing.

No probs buddy. If you are unsure in any way as to the condition of the bushes, then take photo's and put them on here. You can usually tell if they're gone by just looking if they're THAT far gone! Alternatively, go toa local garage (any will do) and they'll be able to tell you. But it's fairly simple to diagnose whether the rubber is gone or not

Actually it's better to get the whole arm replaced, easier than just doing the bushes.
