this is the information i have as of now.
3.0 (530i/530xi) litre engine will be produced until end of may 2007 and will then be phased out to be replaced by the 3.5BI-turbo engine. producing 306bhp. No 340bhp part for the standard e60
2.5 engine will remain in its current form until december 2007, revision is expected/phase out? possibly replaced with a 2.8 version producing around 230bhp.
550 (4.8 part...CORRECTION) V8 engine will NOT be changed/replaced until december 2010. Then expect a 5.2engine with around 406bhp (not finalized)
535d will be replaced with a 291bhp part in september 2007 (e90 3 series likely to carry engine first)
530d will not be altered until 2008/2009
Possibly a 540d v8 diesel early in 2009.
Expect a big big facelift around may 2007, bmw is really putting a lot of resources into this, expect the back light cluster to be altered, front
lights, construction of the bumpers including the welding procedure (as in use the plastic application found in the e63), interior revisions including
a change (possibly) in the instrument cluster

Also where is there a 2.5 liter engine. The 525 now has a 3.0 liter. There was a 2.5 liter in the MY05 E60. And where is there a 5.0 liter V8? The 550 has a 4.8 liter V8. Are you referring to diesel engines?

Thanks for sharing.
Makes sense based on everything else we've heard. Reads like the new F10 (?) will come out in late 2010 as a 2011 model year. And the best news is that the amazing 550 engine won't be out-of-date until 2011.
Good, I can keep my car 'till then, unless I scratch that M5 itch sooner.
