hm, i read the details of this convenience plan service and it states the car needs to be built after March 2008. any chance a dealer can modify our car to support this?

Just recieved a nice letter in the mail today from BMW Assist, asking me if I wished to renew the service that is just about to expire, for $190.00 CDN per year.I have used it a few times to get them to download destinations on my Nav, but I can't see it's real value.Anyone renew it or have any thoughts on the real usefullness of this service?
I needed Assist once to unlock my doors after locking my key in the trunk - definitely worth it at that point.
Does an Assist renewal also continue your BMW roadside assistance? If so, that would already cost you almost $100 a year just for the roadside, so the added $$ for the extra abilities to remotely unlock, locate if stolen, etc. would be worth it in my opinion.
I didn't renew the service in my X3 as there were no real additional benefits (no remote unlock, etc) but will seriously consider it when mine expires on the 550.
