When I visited the USA for the first time I heared that the nickname for BMW was "Bimmer" (Hope the spelling is correct). Is it anyone who knows the history about the nickname "Bimmer"?

i could be totally wrong on this but here goes. i once read somewhere, maybe roadfly, in someones post that the cars were "beemers" and bmws motorcycles were "bimmers". why this is i dont know. but, while checking my spelling i did a quick yahoo search and found this, http://www.boston-bmwcca.org/reference/bim...mmer-beemer.asp , which seems to indicate that i have it bass ackwards . well you learn something new everyday. hope this helps and take care.
