+1, I replaced mine with one from Batteries+ (no problems so far *knock on wood*).

Like I said I replaced mine without registering, yet.
Everything works fine, it (registering) doesn't have anything to do with iDrive.
But my original battery was 90Ah and the new one is 100Ah so the registering is needed for IBS (intelligent battery sensor) so that the system can charge the battery correctly. I understand it like "calibrating" the system for new battery capacity.

that makes sense if you change it but if it is a direct swap with the same measure it shouldnt need to be registered correct?

Tomorrow I'll call the dealer and find out how much it is..for the same battery that way I don't have to register or do anything to the car.
?
From what I have read, if you can find an aftermarket battery with the exact same Amp Hours and the same CCA, there is no need to register it, which would essentially be telling the computer how much juice to send to the new battery to properly charge it.

I believe there is a sticker on your oem battery that lists the exact AH the CCA. There seems to be no rhyme or reason as to what they use as my 325i battery has more AH and CCA than the one in my 530i.
