I'm trying to find out why Automatic Roll Stabilization and Active Steering were left out as standard equipment or as an option on the AWD 530xi. Is it because they just couldn't integrate them with their xDrive AWD system -- that's it's just not technologically possible or desirable to have both? I called BMW customer service to see if someone could answer this from a technical standpoint, but they were not able to answer the question. I'm wondering if we may see these 2 systems available together in a 2007 530xi.

I love the Automatic Roll Stabilization and Active Steering of the 530i, but also would like AWD. So I have to decide what's more important to me. We don't get to the snow that often, but when we do it'd be nice to have AWD. I'll be deciding on which to get in the next few weeks, then have to place my order.

I don't think there's enough room to fit whatever hardware Active Roll and Active Steering require since X-drive obviously has additional hardware requirements too...

Yeah or they need more testing to do with both X dirve and DD.
