My Ride: 2005 545i ordered - built 1/05 - arrived 3/16/05 . Silver Gray - Biege Interior. Sports Package, Steptronics, Comfort Seats, Cold Weather Package, Rear Fold Down Seats, Sat Radio. Mods: Seatback Hangar, Trunk Net, Umbrella.
Unhappy

Brought my 2005 545i SP into for standard oil and had mentioned the noise in the front wheel well and the harsh 2-1 shift. Appartently, there is recall for treadwear on my tires and bulletin on the harsh shift. Replaced all tires with new version of a recompounded Dunlops and reprogrammed to latest version of software. What version this is I do know and my service adviser could not tell me.

My car built January 2005 - these are on recall for tire replacement.

The tire replacement issue is old news -- actually, I truly think the tire replacement bulletins are a result of this forum and it's members!

Glad they took care of you...

Do you know when your tires were made? Does anyone know when the improved version of the Dunlops was introduced? I have had trouble determining when mine were made--even though there is supposed to be a date on each tire. As best I can determine, mine were made in 1/05 and 5/05 (or maybe all in 5/05). That is, I find 1505 (or maybe it was 10505) on the fronts and 505 (or maybe it was 0505) on the rears. I purchased my car in 6/05. All help appreciated.

What built time exactly does the recall cover? My tires are starting to get loud, but the dealer claims they know nothing about a recall...

Have your service advisor refer to SI 36 02 05 under the BMW Tire Satisfaction Program.
All four of my tires were feathering with wear on the inside resulting in the strange growling noise.

Mine were replaced a few months ago (over 26K mi on the car - although I ran snows for almost 6 months). 100% covered under warranty. New Dunlop RF's are great (so far).
