Aux-in iPod adapter

Does this work?

As in applying iPod integration through the iDrive? Or any iPod integration?

My Ride: 2006 525xi

It will allow you to see play your ipod through auxiliary input, similar to a 3.5mm headphone adaptor. If you don't have aux in idrive, you will need programming to get it working.

I've coded the aux, but I haven't bought any cables? How does that cable work? It seems to replace the plug that the OEM plug should go? Sooo won't I lose other functions :S Unless I open that plug and take the wires I need and cut and plug it where it should be for the OEM plug?
