Which A/C comes with the 2006 550i? Is it a special order for the advanced a/c?

Personally I can't see a huge difference between standard and advanced... (In terms of 'ugliness')
You don't pay just for appearance, although standard a/c does look a bit 1990s. You get two temperature zones (and a third in the back I think), residual heat (keep the heater going when you switch off the engine), programmable ventilation (have the fan - not a/c - come on for 30 mins before you return to the car), auto air recirculation (if bad air sensed outside), extra computer functions, and I forget what else.

I wouldn't expect it to add anything to second-hand value.

The thing that bugs me is that (in UK) it's standard on the E90 but not E60. But, then, that's true of Pro radio and extended lighting pack too. Very upsetting.

Best bet in UK is to choose the Luxury Pack which includes a/c advanced. Except that then you're forced to have wood trim, which I don't happen to like. Sigh.

In the US it's all "advanced" - the other stuff is all non-US.

It's something they will add to the standard fit once the sales start flagging a bit... (Or when the new 5-series approaches in 2011)
