Was having a look at BMW's UK website last night, to double check some duff information i was given (was told that the 19" (172) wheels were now standard on the 2006 M-Sport models) looks like this aint true.

However i then decided to check the list new price of my car, so went to the Configurator to spec a new car with all the options mine has & i noticed that Extended Voice Control is now included as part of the Media Package. This was defo not the case a couple of weeks ago. Also, the list price of the standard E60 535D M-Sport had increased by about ?1000. Last week it was defo under ?40K, but this week it's over ?40K.

I'm having it retro-fitted next week by my local dealer & am kinda glad now given it's set to become more of a standard fitment.

They certainly did. Had the work done yesterday at my house & it's just as expected. The car's performance is now bonkers.

Not had any time for a proper test drive, only took her for a quick blast round the block & it will be a couple of weeks before i'm in her for a proper drive, but 1st impressions are excellent & it feels so wrong having that much power & performance in a Diesel

Couple of things, have you been given a price for fitting the voice control?

And also can your car play MP3's? The reason I ask is if it can't they will no doubt upgrade your software to 20.01 which may overwrite the DMS remap. I have a DMS 535d too and want to add mp3 but worried it will do this, spoke to DMS and they say that it may well do if it is a big ecu upgrade, I can take it back to them to have it done again but it is a bit of a chore.

The dealer is doing the Extended Voice Control fit for free, as part of the CIP upgrade, so i'm just being charged for the parts which work out to ?50ish. Most of the required is software based, hardware is just a microphone which is hidden in the roof light panel & wiring loom.

As regards the CIP upgrade, my car can't currently play mp3's in the single slot & i requested that as a condition of sale, along with installing the most recent software package, so both being done next week with the Extended Voice Control install. I to spoke with DMS yesterday & was assured that the chances of the dealer touching the engine ECU are remote as the CIP upgrade is for the i-drive, not the engine. DMS did however state that once or twice, dealers have flashed the engine ecu at the same time (no idea why) & that if this should happen, DMS will come out to my house & re-map the car again FOC within 7 days (excellent customer service i think you'll agree).

I will ask the dealer if they intend touching the engine ECU, as i want to know before hand if they're going to mess up any settings on the car (basically i'll blag them).

Thanks for the reply.

I will be interested to find out how this goes, and yeah the DMS service seems awesome.

Will do.

If it does overwrite (which i trully doubt) i'll get DMS back the week after to re-install the mapping. I'll also be asking the dealer on Tuesday when my car goes in if they make any changes to the engine ecu, using the excuse that i'll not be happy if they alter the cars general settings that have taken me over a week to set-up to my liking.

Fingers crossed their are no problems.
