Default Auto dimming mirrors fault

Hi All.

I don't know when it happened but I noticed last night that none of my mirrors are dimming any more. Seeing as it's all of them I thought it was probably a fuse but I can't find one dedicated to this function and all of the window/mirror ones are intact. I am now thinking it could be the sensor.

Any ideas?

If it is the sensor, am I looking at a whole new rear-view mirror?

Cheers,

Ade

I believe there are two sensors. One points out toward the windshield and the other is that small dot point inside. The car tries to determine the difference in the light between the two. You should try first cleaning the windshield and the mirror, if you haven't done so already.

Personally, I don't like auto-dimming. For my tastes it dims too far and I have to look longer before I change lanes at night. I put a piece of tape over the inside facing sensor and that reduces the auto-dimming somewhat.

Hi,

I have just covered the exterior sensor (it is still daylight where I am) and sure enough all of the mirrors have dimmed. I will see what happens when it is dark as I wonder if the mood lighting is affecting the interior sensor.

Many thanks for the info.
