my idle is around 500 that sounds right then, i only get that once in a while the slight rough idle, but i'll check out the SIB that is offered.
when AC is on it idles at 750 rpm. i wonder if it's ok when th rpms go up and down slightly at idle

Made an appointment to drop off my car at the dealer monday, i'll keep you guys updated. See if they find anything wrong with the car i'll give them the SIB info about the idling. Might as well get this taken care of while it's still under warranty. But given the fact that the idling problem is not apparent or happens only certain occasions not sure what can be done. I'll keep my figures cross.

I think 750 is quite high even when it is warm up..... I may be wrong. Around 500 is normal (in warm up and AC on) but yes 800/750 when it is cold. ..
like the others said, try: clean MAF, fuel addictive (Techron is the best IMO) but NEVER EVER use any OIL additive on BMW.

Interesting...
Well when my car is all nice and warmed up I would say that the idle is VERY smooth also, but not as smooth as, let's say a Lincoln town car, or a Lexus.
After a cold start my idle is a little choppy, but as soon as you ride a few minutes, the idle is quite smooth.![Smile](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/smile.gif)

how many of you experienced rough idle (slight vibration when car idles) on 545i or any other n62 engine?
I did some research and there is no certain fix to this. people switched spark plugs, adjusted walve lifters, used different gas, cleaned MAF, used fuel system cleaners, throttle cleaners, changed coils, airfilters, etc..
would be great if we can collect different opinions here and may be find the right answer. thank you

To be clear, the issue is an occasional shake/almost stumble while at idle OCCASIONALLY. Have a friend who had an X5 with the issue. Dealer changed out the heads and the problem was better but every now an then it would do it. Caused him to dump the car - he drives a Tahoe now. I personally would have left it at BMW until they fixed it.
