I am gonna reach 147,000 miles this week on my 06 530i. I am the second owner, bought in April 2008 with 19K. No mods, except when I suspension work, I got Bilstein B8's put on and at last brake job, I got ceramic brakes for dust purposes mainly.

04' 545i 6MT Sport with 135k and I still get compliments on it.

Thank God for CPO Warrenty..but now that that's over :/

Starter @ 50k
Alternator @ 60k
Battery @ 60k
Water pump twice @ 80k and recently at 130k
Steering Wheel (heating element stopped working) 40k

Went through about 3 sets of rotors and pads, 5 sets of tires, oil change every 10k, and all the standard wear/maint. items.

Overall the car has been great to me, and I still love driving it.

I do need to address/re-asses these maint. items though:

Tie rod ends
Oil leak - probably the vacuum pump seal - been there all along? about 1/2 qt. low every oil change
Steering rack leak - been there for about 50k, about 3 oz. of CH11S a month
Transmission fluid flush? - Have not done anything here..clutch feels fine.
Kind of worried about this aluminum cooling tube failure on N62s.. hasn't happened but potential high dollar item.

Just bought a mint 2004 545i with 118000km 3 weeks ago, here in Quebec. Although relatively low km's, combined with the cars age and I was apprehensive. But because of this forum I was well informed before the purchase. Other than a few overdue maintenance reminders, I'm confident I bought a 'good one'. The car is being tested daily with the relentless onslaught of heavy snow and really cold (-25degC today) temps, but my confidence in my purchase is growing. BTW, I hate the rain sensing wipers.

Oil filter housing gasket leaking oil, changed gasket,

I am the third owner. I love the car the way it drives.
Tranny oil replaced, tranny filter , and pan changed at165,000
I think the previous owners did not change the tranny oil. Lifetime tranny oil crap .....

08 528i - Purchased in 2010 with 70K

132K miles and still going strong

Replaced:
Battery - 130K
Starter - 130K
Alternator - 130K
Oil leak around oil filter - 130K
Eccentric Shaft Sensor Relay - 120K

Everything else has been normal maintenance. The car never had any real issues until recently. Overall it has been a great car. The sudden surge of issues make my family think otherwise though, lol.

I have over 221,000 miles on my 530i which I bought new in 2004. My wife and I use it as a spare car. My primary car is a '13 Audi A6 which already has 25,000 miles.

Granted the 73,500 miles I have on my 04 545i is not high, but it is 10 years old now.

I had to replace the battery in 2010 when the car had 48k miles.

The tensioner pulley had to be replaced in 2011 when it had 50k miles.

And the I had to do the valley pipe o ring failure repair along with the expansion tank at 70k miles. That was this year. While I was at it I also did the vacuum booster oil leak.

I put that off and it leaked oil all over my control arm and I had to replace that last year.

The valve cover gaskets show just the slightest hint of weeping but nor leaking so far.

This was mine with 100k no issues at all (although the shocks were about ready to be replaced):

sadly it got totaled the other day.

I loved the N52 motor. I did the OBC indicated 16k OCI, and the UOA came back glowing with praise. The lighter front end of the N52 xdrive is noticeable compared to the e60 535 xdrive model.

I have an '07 5 series with about 90k on it. It runs as good as new. I'm not even thinking of changing it yet.
