91,500 Miles, 2008 550i 6MT.

No major problems, still one of the best cars I have ever driven.

I love driving this car. Every single mile is pure pleasure, so I will be adding a lot more to the 88K.

I bought my 2004 525 new to replace my E39 525. The E60 now has 110,000 miles on the clock and drives like new. These cars last a long time. My 87 325es sees regular autocross and track day duty and has logged over 200,000 miles.

I will keep the E60 a long as possible. I was getting ready for a F10 but I don't like turbo engines, especially with 4 cylinders.

Can you guys tell me what you did or did not do to your transmission between 60k and 100k miles?

I bought my 04 530i (Nov 03 build date) with 55k and it now has 102k miles on it.

I few years back I labored over the idea of flushing the transmission to ensure my 530's long life.

Everyone at BMW said it's a sealed lifetime fluid transmission and flushing it anytime after 60k would introduce more problems than it would fix. I decided NOT to flush it.

That said, what is everyones experience with flushing/not flushing the transmission.

With not flushing it do you see the car going to 250k miles? Anyone with transmission issues?

My 05 545 is close to 91k miles. I am the second owner and i have the full service record from the dealership. Vehicle is in excellent shape, knock on wood. Hope it will continue like that for a long time.

There is a post in the DIY section. The choice is yours but you can see pics of our tranny fluid and you decide. If it's done correctly there shouldn't be an issue! I would recommend you to change it but do that soon if you choose to.

I'm at 120K miles now 04 530i. I drained and filled to specs and then drained again a few days or a week later and changed the pan and the rest of the fluid. So I assume about a 90% fluid change with new pan/filter. No problems since doing that 22K miles ago or was it 32K miles ago? I dont remember.

Reluctantly, I just sold mine with 147K on it. The car never let me down, and drove like a bat outta Hell! Great engineering, thanks BMW!

About 124k miles on mine - I had the transmission and differential fluids replaced at 100k 'cause I figured their lifetime was up... Other than that I've not spent a lot keeping this car up to snuff - still love driving it every day!

Cheers, Jon.

BMW 525 DAT 2005. 83.000 km. Changed panorama sunroof, level compressor, amplifier for remotekey, throttle valve, 2 batteries, air flow meter (MAF, not really essential, but dirty and have had problems with high diesel consumption), injector no.5, glowreley, cabel to glowreley, several glowplugs, both thermostats, shocks to the tailgate, and of course normal service. Replaced oil and filter for tranny at 75.000km. Replaced brakes at 74.000km. Just removed the intakemanifold and cleaned it and offcourse checked the swirlflaps. It was a dirty job, but it was worth it.

I just had the car on a (NAF) test where it was revealed that the left fender, hood, right fender and right door has been repainted. I'm waiting for a answer from my dealer why it was repainted before I bought it from them and I asked them to check for more damages. It was purchased as a premium selection car from BMW dealer in Norway, imported from Germany for almost four years ago.

Me and the car has had a turbulent relationship, but my wife also loves BMW and after test driving many different brands lately, nothing beats BMW in driving pleasure. So we are going to stick to this troublecar or buy a newer with warranty. BMW - Buy More Warranty...
