My Ride: 545i; Manual Shifter
By the way...a little off topic, but just two things...
1) Is there a way to tell what version software the iDrive is using?
2) I will be due for my very first normally scheduled maintenance at approximately 9,000 miles. Will the technician make an upgrade in the software automatically?

only your dealer knows what version of sw you have. and your dealer won't automatically update your sw unless they've found some falses which very unlikely since most of the time services/complaints are requested/made from customers. and one other main reason, they are too lazy to check everything else .

I think what I might do then, when it's time to bring in my car, is specifically tell the tech (or whoever helps me) that I do not want a software upgrade.
