So there's two issues here -- the termination itself could be argued as causing a temporary state of insanity which would [if legally proven], SECONDLY absolve him of any damages and wrong doing. Ha ha! The guy really screwed himself as that fit of rage is going to be a tough one to prove, esp. as you see that he had prior intent of damage and planned this out [making it harder to plead the insanity arguement].

Anyways, I think BMW NA needs to repo the cars first and then fire their employees... Instant satisfaction!!!

If I were BMW NA, I would force him to buy the car. Then he could be reminded of his actions everytime he drives it. Break it, you bought it!

Hey, I'm not going to disagree with anyone that this was way out of line, to say the least. And, I am not defending his behavior. However, maybe his "laying off work" was a sympton of mental illness or severe depression? Was he going through some serious personal or work-related issues? A person in that type of thin ice situation would be more predisposed to flip out after getting such horrible news (of his own doing or otherwise). Again, I'm NOT defending his actions in any way as they are totally inappropriate. No, I'm not coming from some some wimpy-ass "everyone's a victim" perspective, but I guess I just wanted to toss out an alternative viewpoint. Obviously, he'll get what he deserves. I guess I will too when everyone slams me.

You have a valid argument. No one should slam you.

i agree with you on that point, maybe he was making up excuses because lots of people are not willing to openly admit that they are fighting depression or some sort of mental illness fearing they may be forced out of their job...or be mocked at work...

not condoning what he did, its very wrong and idiotic
