MR MACK

According to my dealer they did a bunch of tests on the car. Which took 1.5 days.
Their only answer was that BMW knows of the problem and will be work on a software solution to it.

Stay tuned!!!!

I brought this issue up on my test drive as I could barely get any AM reception. (Sports radio junkie and a round trip 70 mile commute.) I didn't get the NAV system (test car did have it) so I wonder if it will be better without NAV. If I have to I'll go the Sat radio route but not sure if Sat radio covers the AM band. I'll check.

Sat radio does not cover the AM band, it has its own line up of assorted "stations" covering various music styles. It does have assorted talk stations such as Fox, CNN, ESPN radio, etc, but it does not have local AM or FM stations. If you're listening to a nationally syndicated talk show that is picked up by the bigger guys, it might be there. Here in New Orleans, I love listening to our big AM station for local news and sports talk, and I can't get that on sat. radio. I don't yet have the Sirius in my 545, but I do have XM at home.

My radio reception has been OK, but I have yet to drive outside the city, so no real test there. I have heard that the poor radio reception seems to be an issue w/ NAV, but I don't have NAV.

are these business or Pro radios?

maybe it is diff. in the US. but here we have 2 radios - the prof. version (comes with nav systems also) has two tuners or something like that which improves reception particularly in built-up areas (or so they say)

good question skidster, but I don't think we have the two different versions of radio here the US. Not positive on this, but seem to remember from earlier post on this or another board that US only gets one version of the radio.

The AM reception thing is driving me nuts. If anyone gets an update from the dealer, please share. Thanks!

The dealers don't know much. There job is to push cars. Their techs don?t get enough training for such complex vehicles!
