[quote name='ledbettm' date='Mar 10 2005, 11:29 AM']When a US Spec car has a bluetooth cradle installed and working...the owner should be able to change the snap-in adapter after buying a new phone and it should work. This does not seem to be the case. Going from a working T610 to a V710 adapter the unit will not charge. The dealer made mention of a need to initialize the cradle. They did say however, that this should not be neccessary. Is there a way to initialize the cradle or should it just work as you move from phone to phone?

I had a Nokia 6310 and bought a cradle - worked fine when I figured out how to install the cradle. The dealer had to show me how. Then I swapped phone to a Motorola V620 and I sold the other snap-in adapter on eBay. Now I have a Motorola V600 snap-in adapter. Took a few secs to install and again works fine. No initialization done. I must say the motorola phones seem to work excellent with the car. Also modified all my phone book entries to make easier in the car and this works a treat (have entries like Fred - Home, Fred - Work, Fred - Mobile - rather than one entry with 3 numbers which does not sync across bluetooth very well).

So the centre console seems to be snap-in, snap-out and works very easily.

That's what we would expect and the fact it worked that way for u is a great confidence booster for us not there yet. Thanks for contributing

Questions for u?

I assume when u say worked fine that included both working through external antenna and charging the phone, right?

Can u tell if u had Option 644 "Preparation for Mobile Phone w/Bluetooth" either in your original build or added later?

Is it possible for you to look at the part the snap in adapter plugs into and find the BMW part number to provide us here?

The difficulty here in the US is the inexperience of the dealers handling these issues or their ability to differentiate issues concerning Bluetooth phones from the older CPT9000 option.

TIA

Perfect. Can you verify the part number of the flat plate that the snap-in adapter goes into? That may be the issue with US spec cars.

Thanks
