I have a 2005 545i with active suspension, sports package, active steering. Intermittently, there is a grinding noise coming from below the car when I make a left turn or if the right side of the car hits any type of a bump. I assume this is coming from the active suspension.

Anyone else have this issue. I took it to the shop but of course they said they couldn't duplicate the noise and to bring it back when the problem gets worse.

Are you sure it's not ABS? I haven't had any noise from the AS but from my experience in my Land Rover the active suspension could make a clunk sound (something I haven't seen in the E60 either) but ABS could make more of a grinding noise is it was activated. Did they check to see if you had a faulty speed sensor on one of the wheels?

The noise comes when I am turning and not while I am braking. Of course, given the complexity of the systems, something could trigger the brakes. But the noise comes no matter how slowly I am driving.

Dealer checked the diagnostics and nothing showed up.

2004 530, same option, the noise is always there from day one; back to dealer twice already, nothing wrong. Later on, I get used to.
