Question Active Steering Malfunction - Freezing Weather

Hello 5 Series World!

I've had my 2005 E60 530i for over a year now, and this is the second time in freezing temperatures where the car seems to throw the A/S Malfunction. I did have the steering angle sensor replaced a few months back due to it actually failing. Is this freezing temperature phenomenon usual? A/S fluid shrinking and setting off the level sensor? Wondering if there is a fix to keep this from happening in the future. Located in Oregon so temps can warm up and get cold often. Thank you!
