It takes the effort out of quick opposite lock. Really! I think this is what the engineers had in mind initially and then found all these practical applications for it. Hehe.

But uh, I don't recommend you try that on public streets (ducking for impact)...

If I catch ANYONE drifting their E60, I'm repossessing your right to drive an E60. Buy a damn Accord or 350Z for that. Sheesh!
