Took me a few days to get used to it...didn't think it mattered that much. Then I drove my GF's car and my reaction was WWWHHHOOOOOAAAAA!!!!! Gimme my active steering back!!! Can't live without it now!

Wish I had it. I have a feeling the first 545 I test drove had it but the salesman didn't tell me so I didn't order it. Without it, coming from 330, the 550 feels like a boat ...but a very nice one!!!

thought I wasn't going to like it, feels really odd at first but now that I have it I love it. It makes driving other cars a little odd feeling now.

There are safety benefits as well with AS - in 'oops' situations, the AS equipped car can make minor steering corrections to assist in keeping the car on track (along with other anti-skid corrections).

That's right - I remember once when I overcooked it a little on a wet onramp one morning and as the back end got out of shape I could feel AS helping me with some corrective lock. It's a great system.

I never used Active Steering before but from what I've read, it's useful. However, with the extra money saved and careful driving, you can live without it. Yes, it's a nice feature but having too much features only will spoil you at the end. Just like people with the sports package who swear they will never drive a BMW without one again .

Active steering isn't *just* for safety or parking. Ohhhhh no, no no. What active steering is best for is DRIFTING! It takes the effort out of quick opposite lock. Really! I think this is what the engineers had in mind initially and then found all these practical applications for it. Hehe.

But uh, I don't recommend you try that on public streets (ducking for impact)...
