80,000 mile Michelin
Michelin makes a Defender 2 tire that is warranted to go 80,000 miles.
What is the draw back to getting a tire that goes 80,000 miles?

I have a set off Bridgestone tires that came with an 80k warranty. I purchased them in Feb of 2017 and I am no where close to 80k on them. I guess the only down fall will be having to get new tires before the tread wears down. They are starting to crack a little though

It probably wouldn't be a good choice for a track car, as mileage can be inversely proportional to dry traction. That said, I can't say I've ever really noticed the difference between "soft" and "hard" tires in the real world. I like Michelins a lot, and am running them on my E61, having replaced a set of very quiet Brigestone Turanza Quiettrack tires that were never really quite as round as I'd like them to be. They WERE quiet though, and probably pretty grippy... but I guess I just haven't been pushing the car TOO hard lately, and can't say I'd notice any difference in dry traction.
I did have a set of Michelin LTX 31" x 10.5" x 15" on my Jeep. One got damaged, and I replaced it with an identical - but considerably older - tire. When the "new ones" hit about 12 years old, I decided it was time to swap 'em out. The "old one" was coming on 20 years old, and still looked fairly good, with only light weather-checking. I just don't put enough miles on the Jeep to ever wear out an 80,000 (or 50,000) mile tire, but I also do use it off-road, where deep tread is a feature, so am OK with replacing tires with more than half the tread left.

I start questioning my tires at 7 y/o. Being on the highway with old tires scares the heck out of me. Industry standard is 10 years and this is the first set I've had that lasted this long mainly due to me being out of country for a long period of time.
