I have the same problem. My SA told me repeatedly that there is no problems with the transmission/clutch. I've complained many times and the only explanation I was ever given is "it is normal. If you want to minimize this, double-clutch before going into first - especially, when its cold out". I know this doesn't help, but at least you can rest assured that there're no problems with your car. Me - I'm planning to replace the clutch for something better when it comes time to switch this one (though if it is 150k miles, like someone said, I doubt I'll get to that mark
)
Elaborate, if you can, please?

hmm, i never had a problem going into first. I can be at 15 mph and go into first but i double clutch and rev match into it. Doesnt seem like the clutch. Mebbe 5 year old synchros? It can be a little rough but it's normal. I've driven many MTs and some do that.

I still kinda doubt it warrants a repair, cuz it might lead to more problems than it is attempting to fix, ya know...
everyone..had this exact problem....thought it was problem with clutch so started mental and financial preparations to send to dealer for clutch change. did some digging and found that since clutch was nt slipping etc and any other classical signs that it may be oil in gearbox.
anyway ended up putting in BMW recommended gear oil
gear changes are now perfect like new......
