I promise if you blindfolded you-that you would not be able to tell a differene of 30 horses when you are talking 330 v 360 AND If I remember correctly the 545 ahd slightly favorable gearing to boot so you realllly wouldnt tell a diff-but whateva you say my non-friend
Now the 535 has 330HP and suddenly same torque output (300 vs 360), whatever you want to think then that is fine.

And for those naysayers this is something I learned from this forum-for all the guys replacing the rearend of their car from 2.92 which is the 550s to a 3.28 or in that ballpark and that was roughtly 20ish increase percent in torque-now I never cared nor took the time to analzye the equation but I do know the final drive ratio for the 535 is 3.09 v. 2.92 for the Manny and 3.64 v 3.32 for the auto-now mabye that is only a 6 percent torque multiplier difference. Or if you compar and auto to manual but that is not apples to apples so I wont
Either way-the lighter weight, the undreratedness of the stats that have seemed to surface and the better gearing-now some pro in hear tell me this could not make 300(more likely 320) feel very similar to 360.
If I am wrong thtan sorry-th 550 is wayyy more torquey than a 535

The only thing that may sway my choice to the 550 is the fact that you [can't get]...the M aero kit with the 535.

Why are people who are not getting a 550i trying to justify why it's not worth it to get a 550i? I think they are justifying their cheaper purchase or future purchase
Why are guys who do have a 550i so quick to justify their purchase? I think it's because they want to feel good about their purchase and don't like people trying to undermine their car's worth.
With that being said, 535 and 550 owners are both justifying their purchase. The 535 guys are trying to convince themselves that their car is just as great and that is why they didn't put out the extra money and the 550 guys are trying to convince the 535 guys that the 535i does not compare to the 550i and that is why they did pay out the extra money.
IMO, there are too many people trying to undermine the 550 owners because they couldnt afford or werent willing to put out the extra money for a 550, so they are taking it out on the 550 owners. And there are too many 550 owners who are much too worried about whether everyone agrees or not if the 550i premium is worth it over the 535i
My advice, 550 owners just enjoy the fact that you DO HAVE THE BETTER CAR AND IS WORTH THE EXTRA PREMIUM. (I sense a bit of low self esteem with these guys)
535 owners be happy that you have a GREAT CAR, but stop worrying about whether a 550 is worth the premium or not. (I sense a bit of jealousy with these guys)

The latest Vishnu Proceed V2 (in beta and with exhaust) on an N54 engine is putting out 376 RWHP and 406lb-ft at the wheels. Without exhaust you can knock off 10-20hp. So assuming a 15% drivetrain loss and no exhaust we're talking about 355RWHP * (1 / 1.15) = 405hp at the crank and 386lb-ft * (1/1.15) = 440lb-ft at the crank! He claims he'll be dialing back the torque and preserving the hp in order to reduce drivetrain strain in the final released version.
Vishnu Proceed V2
All this for $1200. Do you risk losing your warranty, sure, but I'm not so worried about that because the piggyback computer is not detectable by bmw techs, unless you take it in for service, leave it installed and they happen to open the ECU compartment. Hey, if you're gonna play you gotta be prepared to pay.
I could afford a 550 (and can't affort an M5) and I really wish I could order the aero kit and m-sport suspension as an option on the 535 but in the end I want something faster than my c32AMG so I'm going with either the 535 or 335 coupe with a proceed. I love seat your pant's acceleration! My friend has the 550 and it's a beautiful car but it doesn't quite have the acceleration I'm looking for.
The latest v2 of the Proceed is not yet released and is about to enter beta testing and will likely be released in a few months. Speculation is that they now have control over VANOS and that is where the extra power is coming from as compared to the v1.5 proceed, it has been confirmed from Vishnu that the extra power is not from increased boost over the v1.5 Proceed.

I have test driven the 08 550 sport and an 08 535 non-sport. I currently lease a 545 sport. I was amazed today at how well the 535 engine performed and it was not even broken in. The difference in sheer engine performance between the 08 535 and the 08 550 is very slight. The 535 has a wonderful torquey engine that is fun to drive. In terms of sheer value and what you get for the price, in my opinion the 535 is the better value. I can afford either car, but for me value is an important consideration. That is why I am going to look at changing my Euro Delivery 550 sport to a Euro Delivery 535 Sport.

Man the day has certainly come that BMW's are ricers now? BMW's purpose has always been to be great cars as built that do not need and did not need tampering. This is why so many are blowing up, figuratively speaking. The only upgrades that should ever be considered to a BMW fanatic is a M-series!!!!
Since when did BMW's get purchased for potential like they belong in the fast and the furious?
Don't tell me we are going to start painting our cars hot yellow and mandarin orange now too w/ big stickers all over the car.
Just expressing my tiredness with all this Vishnu chip and all these other stupid upgrades that people keep using to justify 535/335 power "potential".
Key word: potential
