All I am saying is the car I have on order will have a V8 engine and will be built in September 2005. My dealer does not have specs for a 2006 model year 5 series with the 545 nomenclature. The wholesale and retail internal price sheets will give you specs/options for 2006 models with? 525, and 530 nomenclature. The same sheet will give you specs/options for a 2005 545. However they do not have specs for the 2006 V8 equipped 5 series, because they are not published yet. So you can order a 5 series with a V8 any time you want...what I was told was that I cannot choose any colors or options for the 2006 model, because all the pricing sheets only show what you can order/choose on the 2005 model. The 2005 model will not be produced after the end of July if I understand my dealer correctly. And yes they are still building 2005s. That is just not what they will be building in Sept!

Thats not what you said before... thats what you're saying NOW.

Good thing Vinman is not running BMW.... Yes, the 545s are still being built and sold and the e60 world has not stopped because of speculation about a 550i for 2006.

550 will be produced.

All I care about is how much more I will have to pay on my lease to get a 550 instead of the 545. Obviously there will be a slight increase to the price of the vehicle but I am afraid of the increase to the Money Factor. That is what has me debating on getting a 545 now or just saying screw the kids and get a ///M3 competition. That dude is sweet.

Well if you dont care about the fact that the 550 Might be coming ( okay 95% sure, but still, might), right now is the best time in the 2 year history of the E60 to lease one .001 money factors. Unheard of in high demand Beemer models. They are a steal right now. Just food for thought.

By the way. My dealer has an M3 comp package on the showroom floor. Some bozo ordered it, and then pulled out. The great thing about it is that it is only 55K. Problem with it? Only a base model. The car has no options, and is manual. But, it is sweet. They almost agreed to let me drive it today. Almost.

[quote name='Guest' date='Mar 30 2005, 08:30 AM']...at the NY Autoshow this weekend, the "technical rep" from BMW NA did confirm to me that the 550i will be available for order in Sept, along with the 650i... and that comfort access will be available as well

though he was clueless on almost every other question, including the M-sport option for USA, and whether we will get the 740i or if there will be a 540i offered in the US

....dealers are the last to know everything??

expect to pay $150+ more per month for the 550i vs the 545i with similar MSRP's.... the residual will be high on the 550i since it's brand new, but they will not give you the amazingly low money factor that they have on the 545i right now....

I had the same decision.... the minor changes and 35HP isn't worth 150/month for me, so I ordered the 545i....

comfort access is the push button start, automatic door unlocking/locking when the key is near the car.... it's a pitty the current E60's don't have this.... while car's that cost 1/2 as much do....

the engine in the 545 has been out now since the current 7series came out in 1999. It is only natural that the the new V8 find its self in the E60 in due course. It also needs to keep its HP distance from the new 530. Ofcourse the money factor will be high, they always are. When the 545 first came to showrooms in January 2004 they MFs were ridiculous. By June they were down to sane levels.

Wait till June or July 2006 production and 550s will have a good price.
