I've been using GP Thunder 7500k (pure white) H8 bulbs for 2 years. Found them to be cheapest and maintenace free. It's a direct H8 bulb replacement anyone can do in less than 5 minutes. Draws the same 35W as OEM yellow ones. Last year they released 2nd generation 8500K, producing more blue and brighter!! These draws the same 35w so no error codes but light output is 55W, hence brighter. But the higher spectrum you go on kelvin, the less bright the light output. It's why the 4300K stockies look SO BRIGHT.....and SO YELLOW too.

So here you're saying the 8500Ks are brighter than the 7500Ks.

But here you're saying the higher the K, the lower the brightness. I'm confused (about a lot of things, but right now about this).

For everyone - this thread is all about LCI, how about pre-LCI ? Can us old-timers also use these 8500K bulbs?

Perhaps this clarifies for ONLY LCI:

GP Thunder (first generation implied) 7500K, pure white, same output as OEM 35W, no error codes

GP Thunder Generation 2 8500K, more tint of blue, draws the same 35W as OEM so no error codes, but output is 55W. This was gp thunder's claim on the bulb cover, bluer, brighter etc.... I had ran first generation for a year and then saw gen 2 and tried that. Side by side, gen 2 is brighter when view headlights directly (55w compared to 35w), but b/c of the nature of higher kelvin (blue, deep blue, violet etc...) it is less visible when view headlights off-center. You cant even see the 2 outer angel eyes off-center, while the 2 center are fine.

There were even some H8 bulbs that claims output is 110W but price was around 80 bucks. Never tried those.

I think error codes will be triggered when running bulbs that draws wattage out of OEM specs, more or less than 35W. As long as you draw 35W, you can run any kelvin.

For pre-LCI, it's a whole different setup using OEM tough-to-replace-3W-proprietary-bulbs.

Mike, I have read the second time now you mention the 35w outputting at 55w. What the hell, I have never heard of that. I mean, in physics, that's just not possible. Can you direct me to where they might discuss/market this? I am either going to learn something new or laugh at the silly horse crap, lol.

Also, you guys with LCI, don't get bulb replacements that is higher than 35w. Your corner light lens will melt. This is guaranteed.
