Hmm, you pros know the right questions to ask so why not give GP Thunder a call? Don't conk out now. It's all too easy to be a naysayer and a stone-thrower. Step it up and follow thru and show all of us bystanders what's what!!! LET'S GO

Hello,
I did, because first i was afraid to use the GPthunder 8500 V2's for my foglights,
Because the box marked 55watt but output 80Watt!!!!!!And i was scarred that my lenses would melt or my harness,
That was what i got for replay:
Dear,
Thank you for your inquiry and I'll do my best to help you out! I do want to let you know that this is simply a gimmick. GP Thunder NEVER made any changes to the product in regards to a V1 or V2. They're 100% identical and suppliers simply paid to have them "packaged and labeled" differently to try to differentiate and of course be able to sell their products as a "newer version" when in reality they're all the same.
The GP thunder bulbs are to this day the exact same since they were first introduced...
Regards...
Afther i found these 2 Topic's:

Anyway i use the 9006 bulbs 8500 V2's 12V/55Watt >>>80Watt output now for a couple of month's for now in my fog's,
No issues so far,and verry happy with how they look,
So Persenal i also think it all is a marketing gimmick.

Apologies to OP for totally jacking thread. Let's finish this off.
Those links are way too long to even bother following. Can we do better than "He said, she said?"
Here folks, decide for yourself which bulb is brighter with more blue (higher kelvin)? Driver or Passenger side and I'll tell you what's what. Remember from my earlier post I tried gpthunder first gen and now 2nd gen. Both bulbs are in same the pix. Let's vote:
A. Driver is brighter
B. Passenger is brighter
The differenc isn't much, but's it's there. Once you we get some results from the poll, there is another twist to GP Thunder's supposedly gimmicky marketing.
Thanks!
Mike, here's the thing. Straight forwardly, there's no way that it can output more than what it draws, unless there's an amplifier or capacitor in the middle. Which we know there isn't. If technologically it's possible to accomplish this, we would be seeing bulbs like this everywhere as an alternative to CCFL for consumer lighting as well.
Now, in regards to why one would appear brighter than another, there are many variables. One would be the build and design. I personally don't believe that there is no difference between v1 and this so called v2. In terms of production and cycle alone, there would be refinement/improvement (generally). Two, the temperature of the bulb makes a vast difference when it comes to our perceived brightness. Unless the comparison between two products are the same temperature, it's pretty damn difficult to say one indeed is brighter in terms of real output.
In regards to your pictures, I would say that the driver's side appear to be more noticeable, but that's probably because it's more blue, and recognizable to our eyes. Reality though, the passenger's side is probably outputting more lumen.
