Sorry to upset the apple cart, but that's not exactly true is it?? That car is not strictly stock
I'm guessing the car you mention is a fairly special one, but it's certainly not a Toyota stock model. All the Supra bi-turbo cars are listed here & the best you'll see is 280ps (a little more than a standard 535D
) I'm aware of some Supra's with well over 600BHP (raced against one not that long ago) but they are very highly tuned/modified cars & bear little in common with the standard car.

Sorry w8pmc but 5.5 seconds for the DMS 535D is nonsence. A 330hp 535D does it in 5.8 so your figures are impossible. U r probably comparing 0-60 mph with 0-100kph and thats not correct.
The 5.6 for the 550i is indeed for the 0-100kph with auto transmission.

The BMW lead on performance diesels moves further on with the release of the 535D twin turbo, our demo has stunned the press out-performing any production diesel car with 0-60 5.5 and 0-100 13.4
I compared the 550i auto, as the 535d is only available as an auto (makes sense really).
Ps. Their is no gearchange in my car between 55mph & 65mph so the 2mph difference does not take .3secs.

Did they? I thought the 545i turned into the 550i fairly seamlessly? But I could be totally wrong! ![Whistling](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/whistling.gif)

these are Grogan's results with an unmodded 545i for reference. And comparing the 535d time in the dry with the m3 time in the wet is really taking the piss

Anyhow it wasn't me who brought the Supra up, but i knew their was no 400BHP stock Supra.
Ps. The 5 series is over 20yrs old & the 3 series even older i think, could be slightly wrong though.

The 545i has always been available in the UK same as the 540i and 550i.
The TG test between 535d and 545i involved JC and the Stig driving round the normal track. When the race started the 545i got a cars length on the 535d but after that they were virtually glued together. They didn't show the middle part of the race, for some reason, but went to the finish line showing the 545i beating the 535d by 3 seconds. Obviously staged to make the diesel look crap as JC can't bring himself to admit how good they are.
The TG lap time for the std 535d, with the Stig driving, is 1.31.8 which is the same time as the M3, Nissan 350 and Mazda RX8. Funnilly enough there is no time for the 545i, but if you take 3 seconds off the 535d time it does it in almost the same time as a Dodge Viper.
Don't get me wrong I'd love to drive round in a 545i but as its only marginally faster and with fuel at ?5 a gallon in the UK I'll stick with the diesel.![Thumbsup](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/thumbsup.gif)

Clue is in the link. The car i linked to is a 2001 model & the Supra has had a couple of major model changes since the original launch 20ish yrs ago.
Anyhow it wasn't me who brought the Supra up, but i knew their was no 400BHP stock Supra.
Ps. The 5 series is over 20yrs old & the 3 series even older i think, could be slightly wrong though.

Getting quite funny now
You're correct that their is a 2MPH difference
The BMW lead on performance diesels moves further on with the release of the 535D twin turbo, our demo has stunned the press out-performing any production diesel car with 0-60 5.5 and 0-100 13.4
I compared the 550i auto, as the 535d is only available as an auto (makes sense really).
Ps. Their is no gearchange in my car between 55mph & 65mph so the 2mph difference does not take .3secs.

Hate to bring it to u but it will definitely take .3 secs, probably more.
Its 2.14 mph so that is 3.6% speedincrease. If we convert that in seconds it is .2 sec but 60-62 miles will relatively take longer that the acceleration to 60mph so .3 secs is definitely not exagerated.
Too much numbers by the way, getting dizzy now
