05 545i, when on the highway there is a minnor bit of wind noise coming in. If I center my hand on the glass and push up it goes away...doesn't take a lot of force either. just noticed this morning that if the suroof is in the cocked position (whatever you call hitting the center button and it tilts up) and I put it down it makes a loud gear stripping noise for about a second...scared the crap out of me the first time...damn! Is this a dealer adjustment? lastly, if the car is washed or is out in the rain for a bit and then I drive it the next day or so on a nice sunny day, open the sunroof and then I get 20 drops of water on me....what's up with that?

Any ideas?

I believe there is a service bulletin out there for excessive sunroof wind noise. They replace the seals.

 

yeah go get it done if your car is still under warranty or else it's about $400.00. There is two issues one is the seal the other is the glass they shave it down a bit.

 

my '05 made had that same wind noise.. My '08 550i does not.

My '08 sunroof panel seems to sits closer to the roof line, my '05 sat lower, I believe contributing to the wind noise.

never chose to report or deal with this, just happen to have noticed this as a differnce between these 2 cars.
