I don't understand what the big deal is about a 545 vs. 550.? It's not like the 545 is slow.? If the 550i gets 345-355 hp that 20-30 HP gain will not be a big difference.? The 545i will do 0-60 in 5.6 seconds.? Maybe the 550i will do it in 5.4 seconds.? Hey in that .2 seconds I can mess around with the iDrive some more

The 550 will have 360 hp from everything I've heard. This is a significant difference. A 35 hp increase, assuming the weight stays basically the same, puts the 550 right there with the E39 M5 in terms of performance. Right now, the 545 isn't quite in that league.

Wait for the 550 if you really want the performance. If performance is not critical, you can probably get a great deal on a 545.

Thanks Wolverine. What's keeping me from pulling the trigger on a 2005 is that the best I can probably do is $3500 off list price ($1000 over invoice).

Actually my BIGGEST problem is that I'm ~$7000 upside down in my X3 :'(

True,? but members on this board have negotiated $2000 over ED invoice.? Next time I try too.

ED price for a US customer is about $1000 over US invoice I believe, calculated as follows:

On the 2005 545i I'm considering, US sticker price is $59,595. Invoice price is $54,480 per Edmunds and $54,900 per the sales associate. ED price should be $59,595 - 7% = $55,428 if I understand everything correctly.

Thanks again!

Not Quite. What you need to do is figure out what the invoice of the car is using ED Invoice Base price and Invoice options price. Then add 1500-2000 in dealer profit. Don't work off the sticker. Work up from invoice.

Great thanks Arnolds...I didnt know that there was a separate ED invoice.

I've decided to wait, to order a 2006 550i for ED, and will anxiously await pricing info.

What I think I'll do, since pricing will be more negotiable than I thought, is to give a few of the dealers in my area the chance to 'bid' on it, similar to the buying process others on this board have talked about.

My 19 yr. old son really wants to go to Munich with me to see the BMW factory, and hey, I can't refuse

The ED invpice price is posted on the information section of this site. The Munich factory is old and they make the 3 series there. Take your son to Dingolfing.

The prices are on the second page of the PDF located at http://www.e60.net/information/2006_...es_Pricing.pdf

I would not think the software would be a big deal.? The 4.8l is basically the same and has been out in the X5 since last summer.?

I hear the factory tour is incredible! My 16 year old son was so wiped out from jet-lag when we arrived at the pickup, we passed on the tour. I wish I had dragged him through it now...
