Just took my assistants kid for a "ride" in my 5. He was quite impressed with the cornering and the sound system. Figured I'd "push him back in the seat a bit" so I did an Accelleration Assist. Evidently there must not have been a whole lot of traction as I literally LIT-UP 1st AND 2nd. I looked like a total ass (probably) to whoever was behind me . It wasn't my intention. I wanted to launch and slam a few gears. Oh well. He was actually impressed (but I wasn't - too old for that). Anyway, my point is further confirmed that JUST the passengers side rear roasted.
Looks like if I want to lay down two strips a new M5 is in my future

Hmm did you turn off the DSC or somthing? Normally when the system detects a slip it will counter it. For a test of this, find a parking lot that is empty. Turn the wheel full to the left or right. Check your turn radius by just doing a test drive. Come to a stop, turn the wheeel full to the left or right (umm make sure it is the same way as you just tested) and floor it and keep it floored for 2 circles. You should see that you dont skid out and you keep aproximately the same turning radius.

There is no way you should light up the tires with DSC on. I've tried it numerous times, and the system should cut power to the wheels, whether on the straight or around a curve. You should have to turn it off completely to light up the tires.

I would have your dealer check it - sounds like something is wrong.

Road and Track was right. Floor it in DSC mode, and it's like you just drove your car into a river.

He did an "Accelleration Assist" with an SMG, so you have to put it into Dynamic Traction Control DTC mode, which allows wheel slip.

To do an Acceleration Assist (launch control), you need to disable DSC (and DTC) completely by holding down the DSC button for longer than three seconds.

It sounds like realtyman's car is working as designed and he performed the acceleration assist properly.
