increased emissions and CEL most likely = thermostat. I bought one and still havent installed it. Gonna wait until they pull my bumper for repairs first.

Call BMW NA even though they are kinda useless. Tell them that u told the SA about the knocking and it has been documented but they chose to ignore it.

Keep us posted man. So where did you buy your car from? I am local....I have heard several cars like yours having this problem, but coming from a specialty luxury dealership in the area that is known for lets say, bad business.

So far my stealer was helpful. 3 months ago I've had problems passing emissions test. Car would not comunicate generic. No faults no nothing. After three weeks of reaserch they found airbag module faulty and replaced it at no cost, even though car was out of warranty for 600 miles or so. I just had to pay taxes. I will not call BMW NA unless I will have a problem with a dealer. The fun part is that New engine is $35K!!!!!! And reconditioned one is about $20K. They do not come cheap So with our sale tax here 8.25% I belive it will still hurt my pocket. I will keep You posted!

-Mike- I have ebought it from the same one (LM). Used to worked for them. My car however was a local trade originaly purchased in BMW in Westmont. I am a second owner. There is where I serviced my car all the time. There are very nice people working there. I was allways getting loaner when needed. Overal very good experience.

I know its not a good situation to be in, but here's a thought.....

You should consider totalling the car through your insurance company. If that is possible, then with the money you will get, plus the $20k will need to spend anyway, you should have a nice down payment for an F10.

4500 miles and 5 months after warranty and this kind of MAJOR BREAKDOWN with the car serviced when required. If BMW will not goodwill engine replacement at this point BMW would be the last car I would conside buying. Unless we get what we paid for. $60K car is only good for 60K miles. In this case should we only look at $140K 760LI
