hey all
thanks for your help.
I went to Sterling BMW and negotiated for a 2008 535i with prem, sports, and navi at 34000 miles (white/black). Original is 36000 and the lowest they could give me is 34k. Way too expensive. the guy also pulled out the service record for the other 535i which you guys said was promising. 40000 miles white on white with prem and sports for only 30k. The dealers said it looks clean but there are many "permenant failure" stuff like reverse light and other shit, but he said "those should be fixed by now"
He told me to just buy that one if I can trust that car because the other 535i on the lot with similar options and mileage are selling for pretty much the same price as Sterling, don't know why that one is only for 30k.
I'll keep looking but I doubt 30-32k can get me any 08 535i.
Thanks for all your help!

nope i didn't drive it.
i can only imagine how good it will be. I'm afraid if I drive it I'll fall in love with it so much that I'll make a stupid decision and buy something out of my budget by like a gazillion dollars!
but if you guys have any tips and tricks on helping me locate a car that'd be great.
BTW, should I be looking into private member's classified on this forum or any other private seller? i'd rather not but TAX is a bitch and i dont think buying from private requires tax, right?

Man... the winds of change... you were hell bent on a 528i and we all talked you into at least driving a 535i... then you decided to buy a 535i w/o a test drive only to find they are a few bills more than you expected which leads me to believe you just wanted a reason to get the 528i? Is that right?
Either way its a BMW, and you have to do whats right for you and your budget. Patience is a virtue I have yet to master, but I am sure if you show some you will find whatever it is that would work within the confines of your criteria and budget... Have you ever considered going a year older? Damn, I went 04 just to get the 545i after test driving one... give a little take a little...

ya haha I am actually thinking about that. Ya I was thinking about 528 but before that, I've always wanted a 535i. It's because of the budget issue that I switched to a 528. A lot of other members told me that 535i is very close in terms of price to 528i so I thought maybe I could try looking for a 535 instead. Sure i'm not in a hurry and I can wait, but how much do you guys think an 08 535i with ZPP and ZSP should cost? Worst comes to worst i'll buy a jetta haha

Your price range is perfect for a manufacture's buy back 535i. Are you against this? Take a look at mine in the complete cars for sale section. I know buying a car long distance is pain but just thought I'd mention it.
