The 645 was an automatic also...so that has to count in a way. And i do agree that till 100km/h the 6 is a hair quicker, maybe 0.smth quicker depending on the run. I'm telling you facts not tales and the man i raced can confirm the outcome.
Lets cut the crap? That's the thing with some of the petrolheads...no respect The 645 is faster at higher speeds and i'm telling you that at least till 140-150 the diesel can keep up.
I'm not here to judge wich car is faster, i was wanted to see the difference between the 2 cuz i knew the v8 is going to be faster but by how much and at what speeds only practice could have said. And the results are the ones showed. What crap? I never said that the diesel was faster...i just said that the remaped one is faster and stil sustain it through pure theory untill i have the evidence.
Nice work 6.5 - 5.8 = 0.7 secs difference on planet earth - so your statement that they were o.something apart up till 100km/h is clearly accurate.

Then you've got the issue that the standard BMW times are generally slower than those that can be achieved in practice - as demonstrated by znod and the other drag racing guys.

According to 700700 BMW official tests do not use brake torqueing and I think in practice the question of whether you will see that 0.7 of a sec (or more - or less) is largely going to be down to the drivers ability to get rolling quick.

Speculating here - but the 535d's low down torque might make it an easier car to brake torque than the 645ci ?

Ok, so BMW stating that the 645 goes to 100 km/h in 5.8 seconds and the 535 in 6.5 seconds is wrong?!
Come on, lets cut the crap. The 645 is faster, period. But who gives a sh*t? Really, they are both great cars and discussing which one is faster is useless.
But nice action anyway.

Could not have put it better myself.....nice vid though!

Nice debating style

1. Join the debate and say Better Make Way is wrong and the the 645 is faster

2. But then comes the crafty part - if you say it's useless to discuss which one is faster then no-one can argue further and you will be right .

3. Therefore the 645 is faster - cause you said so and it is useless to argue otherwise

I agree 100%, my car is black others are blue or white so? who decides what is better? faster etc. ACS vs Hartge, RD, Hamann its is all just matter of taste and money so comparing an apple to some almonds not easy

But anyway I see the + approach so thx for posting, do not get caught by police there, and stay alive.
Hire the airport and do it there or bite the Nring where drag times are crap 'cause you can be the fastest but if you miss for a sec the line or the turn bye-bye and no kiddin'.

The crap is the endless and useless discussion about which car is faster. And calling me a petrolhead is much more disrespectful than me questioning the sense and reliability of your test.
And excuse me if i rely more on the test results and figures of BMW than on your figures coming from some kind of test u did with your friend.
Finally for your info. I really don't give a sh*t which one is faster but be realistic man cause it seems that you are more a "dieselhead" than me being a "petrolhead".
What makes you question my test? I say again the test was made to actually find out how much faster is the 645i and at what speeds! That's it. I doubt the other driver was a poor driver, and i like to think of myself as a moderate driver. The fact that we repeated the test is again confession to the outcome of the test and the results.
So if you don't give a shit wich is faster than why did you post on this thread? You first say the 645i is faster and then you say you don't give a damn....
Bealive me i'm a petrolhead at the core but now to simply dismiss the performance/economy ratio of the 535d is absolute crazy.

Well to put things right drag in not all about 0-100 as i hope many of you know. 0-100 is just a measurement interval. I dunno how much slower is the 645iA vs 645 manual...maybe you can help be here but anyway.
Yes WE both brake-torqued. I did it around 1000-1500rpm and the other guy did the same if i recall (should have gone higher if you ask me).
I reckon we both did quite good launches and i strongly bealive that the difference to 100km/h is less than 0.5 seconds.
I checked dragtimes and it seems that if you look at some times as an average the 645i does it in 13.8 seconds and the 535d in 14.1 seconds. That's pretty much the difference we have seen in our test also.

Thank you but the videos were just a proof that this thing happened and i'm not daydreaming. Many can come and claim idiotic things about the test, and how accurate was it and how bla bla but clearly some of the folks are not feeling well about the results. When one comes with a real result done twice with the same guy in the same conditions and stuff, he is still questioned and nah nah it's still not true.
Because we didn't have proffessional cameras ready, and a plan to shoot the whole thing the videos are clearly to show the facts if the experiences of 2 guys are to be questioned....it seems it's not enough.
