535d small turbo failure story
Hi to everyone,
FYI
I have a 2005/55 535d covered 62000 miles and about 8 weeks ago had no power from the small turbo, ran it into BMW and they told me that the small turbo was dead....... then they said the big turbo was not working properly...... i had to sit down, they said that both of them needed to be replaced at a cost of ?4200. I argued and got the cost down to ?1200, not really happy but still car fixed and 2 new turbos.
All was fine for a week and then small turbo packs up again....... not happy at all....... could not get it in to BMW until yesturday, so lets watch this space........
If any more stories please keep me posted.
Thanks

Sometimes you just have to go with the heart.
Had mine done last week and it's transformed the car. Did a 235 mile trip yesterday in something under 3 hours. OBC (OK we know you have to take it with a pinch of salt) showed 84mph average and 37.6mpg(Imperial).
The 85-105mph "overtaking" acceleration is phenomenal.
Whether you see me posting with a blown turbo story remains to be seen... I don't recall any other 535d blown turbos reported on here, remap or not.

Although not relevant to the topic it would be interesting to know what you said to get the cost down so much.
Cheers

To get the cost down i basically told them it was a BMW fault and I shold not have to pay for it, they spoke to BMW Germany and they gave 75% good will.
Did any one get the turbo changed for free??
