Please re-read my 1st post's decription of the sensation and let me know if this decribes the sensation you had too. if it does, then I will certainly ask my dealer to check the MAF. Ok, when the car "skips", is the engine revving at the same time as skipping, or do the revs just stop and pick up and carry on again. I.e. The car just stutters in acceleration? If the car is accelerating and doing a stop start kind of pattern in the acceleration, then it is the same as, or at least damn similar, to what I had happen in my M5, and the problem was one of the MAF sensors.

The revs continue and do not appear to be interupted by the skipping or loss of pull. That's why I suspect this is the tranny. However the skipping is so short and stacatto like, that I if this were engine related I doubt the tach would register such short interuptions to the countinuous drive. So, yes it simply stutters - that's a good descriptive word for this, BTW. I'll mention the MAF sensor to my service advisor and see what he says.

Question - had your car thrown a code? How did your dealer run down the culprit?

Any Leaks?
This issue can be replicated on any grade, however when going up hill it is easier since more torque can be produced. Less likely from a dead stop, but once rolling along and into the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th gears it can be produced.

No leaks, and no prior issues with tranny.

No it didn't throw up a code. I went to my local BMW M Specialist, and they simply plugged it into the diagnostics computer, did a live diagnostic whilst driving and accelerating, and as there are 2 MAF's on the M5's, one was a lot slowly at "recognising" the air feed than the other. Pretty simple in my case...

Traction control? Try turning it totally off. Maybe it's not well and kicking in when it shouldn't be.

Nope... it's all mine. Even paid cash. Ain't life a beoch.

Makes me think... from now on, I'll never again invest so much in such a complicated machine. Perhaps a lease is the way to go.

This is a good idea. Will try that along with another tranny reset just to see if maybe the gods are smiling.
